On the morning of 1 June, 2013 of the local time, on the second floor of the terminal in Luang Prabang airport, China CAMC Engineering Co., Ltd. held a handover ceremony of Luang Prabang International Airport Reconstruction Project. Nearly 100 guests were invited to this ceremony, including H.E. Excellency Vice Premier Somsavat Lengsavath of Laos, Governor of Luang Prabang Khampheng Saysompheng, Minister of MPWT Sommad Phonsena, Minister of Ministry of planning and investment Duangdy Somdy, Director of DCA Yakua Lorpangkao, Charge d’Affaires ad interim Mr. Wu Zhiwu, Counselor Zhao Wenyu, and also all partners of this project.

Luang Prabang International airport Reconstruction Project is the first EPC project in the area of airport construction in CAMCE. And also it is the first project supported by the policy of Preferential Loan in the Export-Import Bank of China. This airport has become the second largest airport in Laos, ranking only second to Wattay International airport in Vientiane. The increasing passenger capacity will meet the great need in the market for Luang Prabang tourism, which will bring a further development in the business and tourism of Laos.
